Westie Poo (West Highland White Terrier & Poodle)
The Westiepoo is a designer breed that results from the cross breeding of a West Highland White Terrier and a Poodle. The Westiepoo combines the best characteristics of both: from the Westie, a self-confidence and lack of comprehension that they are a small dog and from the Poodle, intelligence and good temperament. In other words, this little dog is energetic, easy to train and friendly. While the Westiepoo would derive adequate daily exercise from chasing their toys around the house, they are hardy enough to enjoy a walk or jog with their owners as well. The Westiepoo does not shed much and does not produce much dander as well, making them a potential fit with owners who suffer from allergies. Their white coat tends to be profuse and must be brushed to keep it clean. Many Westiepoo owners opt to have a professional groomer maintain the coat, keeping it trimmed a little shorter than it would naturally grow. Westiepoos range in size from 15-17 inches and in weight from 20-30 pounds. Thus, they are ideally suited for apartment or condo living.
