Lhasa Apsos came to us from Tibet, where they served as inside watchdogs while the Tibetan Mastiff defended the outside of the home. They soon became treasured pets, the role they have today. Lhasas are extremely protective of their owners and their families, a result more than likely of their original purpose. Lhasas have a beautiful long, flowing coat which may be just about any color, or even parti-colored, but it does require regular brushing and bathing to look its best. Characteristics which best describe the Lhasa are playful, loving and loyal. They do not require much exercise and can be content with just chasing a toy in the house to serve their needs. This, then, makes them an ideal apartment or condominium resident. Size: 11-15 inches and 10-14 pounds, with males being usually larger than females.
