Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel & Poodle)
The Cockapoo is a Designer Puppy first created in the United States by crossing an American Cocker Spaniel or an English Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle (usually a miniature or toy poodle) around 1950. In view of the long time span that these puppies have existed, some of today's Cockapoos result from breeding Cockapoo to Cockapoo. The Cockapoo is a low-shedding, low-dander puppy that may be ideal for people with known dog allergies. They are loving, intelligent and energetic and need some daily exercise to be content. They get along well with all members of the family, including children, and are easy to train. The Cockapoo can reside comfortably in either a home or an apartment. Their coat may favor the sleek coat of the Cocker or the more curly coat of the Poodle or fall somewhere in between and may be almost any color or combination of colors. In any event they will require some brushing to keep their coat matt-free and healthy. The size of the Cockapoo can vary greatly, with an average height of from 10 to 17 inches and average weight ranging from 10 pounds to 25 pounds.
