Boston Terrier
Boston Terriers originated with the breeding of an English Bulldog and a white English Terrier, but they are considered an American breed. The purpose of the Boston Terrier is, simply put, to love its owner. They are not a working dog and do not serve well as a guard dog. Nonetheless, they are a delightful companion, naturally intelligent and high-spirited. The Boston is one of the most affectionate of breeds and wants to participate in all family activities. While they like exercise, it is not necessary to take them on long walks; a romp in the house chasing a ball will serve as well for this breed. Bostons enjoy training sessions and are easily housebroken. Equally at home in house or apartment, this is one of America's favorite breeds. Their short coat does not shed much and requires little attention from their owners since they are a very clean breed. The coat of the Boston may be either black and white or brindle and white. Size: up to 16 or 17 inches, 19-25 pounds. Females are usually smaller than males.
