Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Pembroke Welsh Corgis came to us from Wales, where they were bred as early as the 12th Century, as a farm dog. They are gentle, sensible and even-tempered, and can be comfortable in a wide variety of environments, from the farm, to suburbia to urban apartments. Corgis are especially favored by the English royal family who own several. They are affectionate and good with children as well. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi travels well and is especially long-lived (perhaps up to 20 years). The Corgi does require some exercise to remain fit and healthy. Its coat can be red, sable, fawn, black or tan, with or without white markings on the legs, check neck and muzzle. The coat requires only occasional brushing and bathing and is considered to be low maintenance. Size: Up to 12 inches and 28-30 pounds. Females are generally a little smaller.
