While many people think Miniature Pinschers are a bred-down version of the Doberman Pinscher, in fact the Min Pin, as they are known, has been around for a few centuries longer than the Doberman and are a totally separate breed. They originated in Germany where they were bred strictly to be a companion pet. They are affectionate, loyal to their family and a real show-off. They are excellent watchdogs and completely appropriate for apartment living as they do not require a great deal of exercise. The Min Pin' s short coat, may be red, black with rust markings, brown or chocolate with rust or yellow markings; it does not require much care beyond the occasional bath.
