Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier originated in Ireland where it is unknown what their heritage may be. Used originally on farms for herding livestock and hunting vermin, they are now a fine family pet. The Wheaten is spry, resilient and intelligent and has a positive, responsive approach to their owners. They are ideal companions for children and are easily trained and can be a fine watchdog as well. The Soft -Coated Wheaten will adapt to almost any setting, but they do require a fair amount of exercise, and love to interact with other living things, both people and animals. In fact, the Soft -Coated Wheaten will pine if left for long periods of time without companionship. Coat: Light wheaten (the color of ripening wheat) , perhaps with darker shading on the ears and muzzle. The coat will not reach its mature color or length for two years, but must be brushed to look optimal. Size: Up to 19 inches and 45 pounds. Females usually smaller.
