Ragdoll
Ragdolls originated in the 1960's when Ann Baker bred a white Persian and a Birman; subsequently she added a Burmese into the breeding program. Nowadays, Ragdolls are only bred to other Ragdolls to maintain the purity of the breed. As a result we have a large, docile, non-agressive, people-oriented cat with medium length, non-matting fur that is soft textured like rabbit fur. They are "pointed" in color, which refers to the darker color on their ears, tail, face and feet and may be "mitted" (white on front feet, chin, stomach & ruff and back leg white "boots"). Ragdolls are good with children and easy to integrate into a household with other pets. They have large, oval, blue eyes which set off their beautiful coats. If you want the beauty of a long-haired cat without the constant requirement of grooming that is associated with Persians and Himalayans, this is the cat for you! The Ragdoll's coat is easily combed and will only require occasional attention. This breed is extremely laid back and are said to possess a non-fighting instinct which means that if attacked, they will not defend themselves. They mature slowly, and their "points" will get darker as they get older.
