Brussels Griffon
The Brussels Griffon has a very diverse background. Initially the Affenpinscher and a Belgian street dog were bred. The Pug and Ruby Spaniel were also crossed into this breed, resulting in a small dog that 's purpose was originally to control vermin in stables in France and Belgium. Now, however, this plucky little dog is bred for companionship only, and he is superb in this role. Known for being very intelligent and outgoing, he is also extremely affectionate, as any of their owners will attest. The Brussels Griffon doesn't need a lot of outside exercise, though he will enjoy it if given the chance. A good traveler, the Brussels Griffon would much prefer going everywhere with his owner and being as spoiled as can be. The Brussels comes in two hair coats: the rough coat and the smooth coat, and aside from occasional bathing and brushing, the Brussels does not require much grooming. Approximate size and weight when full grown: up to 10 or 12 pounds and about 8 inches tall at the front shoulder. The Brussels makes a perfect little lap dog and will be at home in either home or apartment or condominium.
