West Highland White Terrier
The West Highland White Terrier originated in southern Scotland and shares ancestry with the Scottish Terrier, the Cairn Terrier and the Dandie Dinmont Terrier. Westies are an assertive dog, interested in meeting and interacting with everyone and every animal they come across. They are never shy and can master new situations easily as long as one of their family members is with them. They love to travel with their owners and appreciate their undivided attention whenever possible. The Westie has a double coat which is totally white, generally straight and hard. A certain amount of grooming will be required (bathing and brushing) to keep the coat looking it's best. The Westie needs a moderate amount of exercise which can be gotten by chasing toys around the house or on a short daily walk. Their adult size (10-11 inches at the shoulder and 17-19 pounds) makes them an ideal candidate for apartment or condominium living.
