The Polanese is a desgner breed created by crossing a Pomeranian and a Maltese. The result is a delightful small dog that will usually weigh around 4-7 pounds when full grown. The Polanese is a very playful, energetic dog that is best kept indoors. Polanese are very hypo-allergenic due to the Maltese component of their background. Their coat may be almost any color, owing to the Pomeranian in their heritage, but is usually softer than the Pomeranian's coat and non-shedding. It will require weekly brushing to keep it in optimum condition, and some owners may opt for professional grooming. The Polanese needs a moderate amount of exercise, some of which may be obtained by chasing balls and toys inside. They are ideal pets for apartment or condo dwellers and are easily trained to do tricks, which they love to show off. Polanese are very people-oriented and should get along well with other members of the family, including other animals.
