Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever & Standard Poodle)
The Goldendoodle is a designer puppy that has been bred in the United States and Australia since about 1995. Goldendoodles are the offspring of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They may vary in size and coat type depending on the size Poodle bred in the cross and the amount of Poodle genes inherited. On average they range from 55-65 pounds and may have a curly, wavy or even straight coat. Because of their Poodle heritage, Goldendoodles may be virtually any color. They are extremely intelligent and learn quickly when introduced to obedience training. The Goldendoodle is a perfect family dog who will love all members of the family, including children and other pets. Their character is best summed up as fun-loving and goofy. They need human interaction and a fair amount of exercise. The Goldendoodle is a good watch dog who will bark to let you know that strangers are at the door, but not a guard dog or excessive barker in any sense.
