Cockalier (Cocker Spaniel & Cavalier King Chas. Spaniel)
The Cockalier is a Designer Puppy which results from the breeding of a Cocker Spaniel and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The resulting puppy may favor either the Cocker or the Cavalier so the coat may be either straight or wavy and can be of most any color. This will be a medium size dog weighing probably between 15 and 30 pounds and standing 10 to 14 inches tall. Again, the exact spot where a particular Cockalier falls in those ranges will depend on whether it favors the Cocker or Cavalier part of its heritage.
This is an ideal companion pet that gets along well with everyone in the family, including children and other pets. They are playful, intelligent and sensitive to human emotions. Therefore they are rather easy to train and learn tricks quickly with positive reinforcement from their owners. Cockaliers will be happy living in an apartment or condo if they get the chance to have a daily walk and play sessions. The Cockalier's coat will require consistent brushing and grooming to look its best. This is a puppy that will shed an average amount , but the amount of shedding will be reduced with frequent bathings and grooming. Another option is to have their coat cut shorter during the shedding season.
